day 1: riverside serenity in maun, botswana

Arrive at Maun International Airport and let the tranquility of our Lodge embrace you. Nestled along the banks of the Thamalakane River, just outside Maun, this haven sets the stage for your safari adventure. Spend the afternoon at leisure, immersing yourself in the lodge’s offerings, and in the evening, meet your guide and fellow travelers.

day 2 – 3: journey into the heart of the delta

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Etsha 13, on the western fringe of the Okavango Delta. Discover the delta’s unique waterways aboard traditional mokoros. The next day is spent exploring the network of water pathways through thick vegetation in mokoros (traditional dugout canoes). A one and a half hour guided walk on a secluded island offers the chance to encounter elephants, waterbuck, and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

day 4: wilderness exploration in moremi

After breakfast we head south to Greater Moremi, a sanctuary for diverse mammalian species. Delve into the wilderness on game drives, seeking out the region’s renowned wildlife. Whether it’s the dry season’s optimal game viewing or the summer’s vibrant birdlife, each moment in Moremi promises an unforgettable safari experience.

day 5: nocturnal wonders in moremi

Explore Greater Moremi’s hidden treasures on morning and afternoon game drives, then embark on a captivating night drive. Witness the elusive nocturnal creatures that call this area home, adding a new dimension to your safari adventure.

day 6: untamed beauty of khwai

Embark on a full-day game drive in Khwai, where the vast landscapes host a thriving ecosystem. Encounter large herds of elephant and buffalo, alongside majestic predators like lions and leopards. Khwai’s diverse flora and fauna create an enchanting backdrop for your safari journey.

day 7: makgadikgadi pans discovery

Journey eastward to the Great Makgadikgadi, a surreal landscape of salt pans and grass plains. Arrive at your lodge on the pans’ edge, ready to uncover the secrets of this otherworldly terrain.

day 8 – 9: chobe’s wildlife extravaganza

Venture north to Chobe National Park, renowned for its vast elephant population. The afternoon after the arrival is at your own leisure to partake in optional activities or to relax by the pool. Start your morning of day 9 with a spectacular game drive in Chobe National Park. You will return to the lodge for a late breakfast and chill time until your boat cruise on the Chobe River starts around 3 pm. Chobe River offers unparalleled wildlife sightings against the picturesque backdrop of the river.

day 10 – 12: wilderness odyssey in hwange

Cross into Zimbabwe and arrive at Hwange National Park. Immerse yourself in the park’s biodiversity on game drives and a thrilling night drive. Explore the wilderness on foot during a walking safari, connecting intimately with Africa’s untamed beauty. In the last day you will embark on a walking safari, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to extend your quest for African wildlife on an exciting game drive.

day 13: marvel at victoria falls

Return to Victoria Falls, known as Mosi oa Tunya, “the smoke that thunders”. Spend the day exploring this natural wonder enjoying one of the many activities that Vic Falls has to offer.

day 14: explore victoria falls

Discover the unique charm of Victoria Falls at your own pace, from adrenaline-pumping adventures to cultural encounters. Join a guided tour of the falls and unwind on a leisurely sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River, savoring the magic of Africa’s wild heart.

day 15: farewell to africa

After breakfast we bid farewell to Botswana and Zimbabwe as you depart from Victoria Falls Airport. Cherish the memories of your safari adventure, knowing that Africa’s untamed spirit awaits your return.

Planet Africa uses fully equipped Toyota Land Cruisers, Sprinters and 12-seater 4×4 Safari vehicles in Botswana and Zimbabwe (Chosen vehicle determined by us).

Departure:

Please note that the daily departure times are a guideline only and are subject to change due to seasonal variations, as well as unforeseen circumstances. The final decision rests with your guide who will advise you at what time you will be departing each day.

Whilst it is our every intention to adhere to the above mentioned itinerary, there may on occasion be a necessity to make alterations in order to make the tour more enjoyable or practical. Therefore please treat the itinerary as a guide only.

Travelling times and distance:

All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Please keep in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time it takes to travel 100 km on African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your travelling comfort at all times.

Meals:

Where included most breakfasts and dinners will be enjoyed in the restaurants of the various accommodation establishments, however on certain nights the guide will provide an authentic meal for the group, which will be enjoyed together in the evening, often around a camp fire. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.
