Itinerary

day 1: into the heart of the wild

After a morning safari briefing and an approximately two-hour drive, you will arrive at Tarangire National Park. This reserve, adorned with giant baobab trees, bush savannah, and seasonal marshes, is one of the best places to view elephants up close. The park is also home to buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, often shadowed by predators like lions. Leopards make occasional appearances, while cheetahs are a rare sight. From the open roof of your safari vehicle, you’ll absorb the stunning landscapes and wildlife. In the late afternoon, you will depart the park and drive to your lodge for overnight stay.

  • Meals: Lunch, Dinner

day 2: a symphony of birds and beasts

After breakfast, travel from the Tarangire area to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its over 400 bird species, primate-filled forests, and grassy plains. The park’s alkaline lake serves as a seasonal breeding ground for large colonies of flamingos and other waterfowl. You will also encounter giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, impalas, and groups of boisterous monkeys and baboons. Following an extensive game drive, you will head to your lodge for the night.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 3: journey to the endless plains

After breakfast, travel through the cooler highlands towards the southern Serengeti, arriving at the vast plains by midday. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s largest, boasts a diversity of habitats including short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps, and lakes. Bizarre rock formations, known as kopjes, punctuate the landscape, often sheltering predators. The Serengeti is famed for the annual migration, where hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras trek in search of fresh grass and water. Spend the night at a camp inside the park.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 4: following the great migration

Dedicate the entire day to game viewing in Serengeti National Park. The areas visited will depend on the location of the migrating herds, closely followed by predators such as lions, leopards in the acacia trees, and cheetahs. During the short rainy season (November and December), the herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains, returning north during the longer rainy season (April to June). The migration is dependent on the annual rainfall, but your guide will know the best spots to see the animals.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 5: from savannah to highlands

On your way out of the Serengeti, enjoy more game viewing before heading to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. At the crater’s edge, take in the breathtaking view of the giant caldera below. Continue to Karatu in the Ngorongoro highlands, where you will join a coffee plantation walk to learn about coffee cultivation and processing. Spend the night at one of three beautifully located adventure lodges.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 6: into the cradle of life

Rise early for breakfast before traveling back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the massive crater, home to over 25,000 mammals including the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and leopards. The crater also hosts spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, and over 500 bird species. Enjoy an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch before leaving the caldera in the afternoon.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 7: return to arusha

After a leisurely breakfast, travel back to Arusha, arriving around midday. You will be dropped off in the city center or at the airport, marking the end of your incredible safari adventure.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
