Begin your 3 day Sossusvlei discovery tour with a leisurely morning in Swakopmund, a charming town brimming with opportunities. Your guide will provide a pre-departure briefing and confirm the departure time. For thrill-seekers, Swakopmund offers exhilarating activities like quad biking and sandboarding down the dunes.
We depart at 11:30 AM, journeying east across the vast Namib gravel plains, navigating the dramatic Kuiseb and Gaub Passes. En route, we cross the Tropic of Capricorn, a perfect spot for a memorable photo. By late afternoon, we arrive at our destination, just in time to enjoy a peaceful sunset walk near the magnificent Naukluft Mountains.
Rise early to greet the dawn and enter the heart of the dune area at sunrise, when the dunes glow in shades of orange and red. We venture into the ancient Tsauchab River-bed, reaching the awe-inspiring Sossusvlei, encircled by towering sand dunes and the hauntingly beautiful Dead Vlei, home to centuries-old skeletal camelthorn trees.
After exploring, we return via the iconic Dune 45, where you can climb for breathtaking views or relax in the shade. A short excursion to Sesriem Canyon unveils its fascinating history, carved by the Tsauchab River over millennia. Our final day promises more excitement as we head back to Solitaire for a taste of their famous apple pie. Enjoy the stunning mountain scenery on our drive over Namibia’s central plateau, passing through the quaint community of BűellsPort and the small town of Rehoboth.
